Born to dance.

I ushered for the dance concert today for NHS points, of course. I usually don't go to these things unless I can get in for free, because I either don't have money, or I'd think it's not worth my money. Good thing I volunteer, right? Hah. Well anyway, the dance concert was pretty fun. There was the good, the bad, and the ugly, but despite the diversity in talent, it inspired me to write a note.

Sometimes I deeply ponder the world and wonder why some people are "stupid" to me. I didn't understand why some people couldn't grasp simple algebra (especially after the 5th time taking the class). However, I have also pondered why some people are sooo smart. Do they not have lives? false. Do they study all day and night? maybe. Then, I have also pondered those people who can write like young Dickensons, but at the same time take the same Algebra I class for the 5th semester in a row.

Is it hard to at least have a simple understanding at everything?
I don't have too much of a problem with it.

Then the dance concert started.
Now, I don't know much about dance. Whenever my mom makes me watch Dancing With the Stars with her, all the dances I thought looked awkward and robo-tronic, the judges will swoon over the couple's grace.
Wtf, mate.
Well, there were a lot of dancers. As aformentioned, there were good dancers, and there were bad ones. As the night went on, I realized a few things-- one of them, talent. After that, every answer I've been looking for tidal-waved down upon me. Maybe these amazing dancers were simply created to dance. Programmed to dance. Made for the art of dance. Function in dance. Born to dance.
Those who did not dance as well, so to speak, I noticed, have a forte someplace else-- whether it be academics, sports, music, art, theatre, culinary arts, fashion, cosmetology, woodworking, whatever. I appreciate their effort, but what are they doing? Get to where you all belong. You have much more talent elsewhere.

I realized why some people may fail their classes: it's not what they're meant to do.
I realized why some people fail at making toast. I realized why some people (including myself) fail at every form of physical activity they try. I realized why some people fail at creativity.
I guess not everyone can grasp a little of everything. At least they have that one thing they are certain to excel in.

What am I born to do? I don't know.
Cook? Eh. I want to be able to put food on my own table also.
Music? Close, but I'm not good enough.
I definitely know I'm not destined to do chemistry, so this pharmacy thing might be an issue. Hopefully I'll find that something I'm supposed to be talented in, and I'll pursue it.

Follow your bliss. =]

DEAR SYDNEY,

So I was just browsin' the internet today and I came across this. You've probably seen it before. Heck, you probably made it! But when I saw it, I COMPLETELY thought of you (of course).

Wisdom Teeth.

Yup. They're gone...as of yesterday.

I was so nervous the night before.
I was instructed to take this pill, Xanax, 90 minutes before my operation. I thought I heard of it once before, but it just didn't click. Later, I was to find out that Xanax is a prescription drug to help calm down anxiety and whatnot. Haha. So basically all the nervousness from the night before went POOF! Usually I don't believe in pills, but miraculously, this one worked. It was quite funny, as the hygienists were leading me to the room, they were like, "Are you okay?? Are you feeling a little nervous?? How are you??"
Thanks to the Xanax, all I could say was, "Yeah. It's whatev. I'm fine." I was so surprised of myself.

I laid down in that dentists chair, expecting the worst. They stuck the pulser thing to my finger, and a bunch of heart monitors to my chest, arms, and stomach. Then there was that stupid bib they always make you wear. Then they put the mask on me. If it wasn't for that amazing Xanax, that heart monitor machine would have been beeping off the wall.
Then there was the IV! I hate the IV! I HATE needles...IN MY BODY! I cringe every time I get shots, and my parents laugh at me for the faces that I make. Yet again, thanks to the Xanax, I was like, "Huh? What? Oh, that's a needle in me!" I felt a little uncomfortable because I could feel the slight presence of the needle sticking in me...I wanted to cringe, but I fell asleep before I even had the thought to.
All I remember prior to me passing out was my doctor saying, "So you should be falling asleep in a few...."
I was out.

It seemed like I only slept for about 10 seconds before I woke up. I have no idea how they woke me up...I mean really! How do surgeons wake their patients up after surgery? Do they slap them in the face multiple times? Do they gently shake you? Do they call your name until you gain consciousness? Because I didn't get any of that. Does the sleepy stuff immediately come to a HALT once the procedure is over?? I guess that's one thing I will never know.
All that I remember was that I opened my eyes, and I saw the hygienists taking off the sticky heart monitor stuff off me. As I regained my senses I noticed that my mouth was stuffed in cotton balls and gauze. It was quite embarrassing. One hygienist helped me up from the chair. I thought I was fine, but once I put my two feet on the ground, I was so dizzy I almost fell down on the ground.
She put me in a wheelchair and wheeled me over to my parents. I've never felt so pathetic and dependent in my life. Haha. My parents even looked at me as if I was a poor, little, sick dog. *sigh*
So I got home, took a few pictures of my swollen face, and fell asleep for an hour or two. I was rudely woken up because I had to take some pills and replace all the gauze in my mouth.
I honestly didn't need my pills yet. They anesthesia hadn't worn off yet, so I was numb, and I only felt a small, annoying, dull pain in my jaw.

THEN I GET A PHONE CALL!
This is where it gets interesting. (Sydney, brace yourself!)
Guess who it is! Bryan Timothy Kloppe. Here's how the conversation went...
Monica: Hewwo?
Bryan: Monica! How are you feeling?
Monica: Ihm ohay I hess. I hot my wishwom heef hulled.
Bryan: Well, are you awake?
Monica: Hah.
Bryan: Well, I'm at your door. You should open it.
Monica: Huh? Right hrow??
Bryan: Yes, right now.
Monica: WHA? Uhh ohay, hold hon.

So I open the door and there he was, looking all normal, and there I was, looking like a complete and total wreck. I was in my warm-ups, a Millennium t-shirt, my hair was all messed up, and shall we forget about all the cotton in my mouth?
Well, my mom and dad, as always, were very ecstatic to see Bryan. We were all surprised because it was a last minute notice...LITERALLY. I guess the reason why he came over was because he got my something from Disneyland. It's a fake gold keychain in the shape of an "M" with Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy's faces on it. It would've been a cute little thing to do, but it was Bryan, so there was no cuteness in this act. As always, I put on the best fake smile as I could as my mother adorned him while we made conversation. Honestly, I don't even remember too much of it because I basically was high. Good thing, right?

Well, here I am now...Still on drugs, but I feel a bit more conscious than yesterday...Just chillin' in front of this computer, sucking on some jell-o.
This soft-food diet is getting pretty old.

So throughout this entire endeavor, I've come to a question that I doubt even the greatest theologists cannot even explain: Why did God invent wisdom teeth?
I guess I'll find out eventually...

=] *ow* =[

I don't understand myself.

Lots of things happen all the time,
but I always have nothing to write about.

I always want more excitement in my life,
but I'm too lazy to get out and do something.

I have so much motivation to do better in the future,
but when the time comes, I chicken out.

I say one thing,
but I do something else.

I dislike myself sometimes.

A quote....

A quote to summarize my...earlier this week? I made it up myself, so that's what makes it cooler.

"Today...
I manned up and cried my eyes out.
